Synopsis: In this video, Professor Marlus presents the Literature class, focusing on the Romantic period (1836-1881). The teacher starts the lesson by presenting the history of Romanticism in the world and in Brazil and quoting some authors and famous works of the time. It also presents the characteristics of Romanticism: bourgeois ideology; subjectivism; sentimentality; idealization; evasion; harmony with nature; freedom and nationalism. The Marlus teacher also comments on the three generations of Romanticism, citing the authors and their works: 1st Romantic Generation - driven by nationalism and Indianism, especially the poet Gonçalves Dias; Romantic Generation 2 - the evil of the century (tuberculosis), die for love, ultrarromantismo, especially the authors Alvares de Azevedo, Casimiro de Abreu, Fagundes Varela and Junqueira Freire; 3 Romantic Generation - the condoreirismo (freedom), the slave generation, especially the authors Castro Alves, Tobias Barreto and Sousândrade.
