Synopsis: In this video, Professor Marlus presents the Literature class, focusing on the period of Romanticism (1836-1881). The teacher begins the lesson presenting the history of Romanticism in the World and in Brazil and citing some famous authors and works of the time. It also presents the characteristics of Romanticism: bourgeois ideology; subjectivism; sentimentalism; idealization; evasion; harmony with nature; freedom and nationalism. Professor Marlus also comments on the three generations of Romanticism, citing the authors and their works: 1st Romantic Generation - ruled by nationalism and indianism, the poet Gonçalves Dias stands out; 2nd Generation Romantic - that of the evil of the century (tuberculosis), dying for love, of the ultra-romanticism, highlighting the authors Álvares de Azevedo, Casimiro de Abreu, Fagundes Varela and Junqueira Freire; 3rd Romantic Generation - that of the condoreirismo (freedom), of the slave generation, emphasized for the authors Castro Alves, Tobias Barreto and Sousândrade.
