O Globo no ar anuncia a renúncia de Vargas - 24.08.1954

Synopsis: on the night of August 23, 1954, Getúlio Vargas receives an ultimatum from the military ministers. Given the evidence that members of his personal guard had participated in the attack on Carlos Lacerda, in which the major had died of Aeronautics Rubem Vaz, the military press Vargas so that it moves away from the power until the investigations were completed.
Knowing that a license application would mean his deposition, the president refuses to leave power. In Catete Palace, numerous meetings vararam the morning of the 24th, trying to find a way out of the impasse. Early, Vargas retired to his quarters and, shortly after, was killed with a shot to the chest.
