Synopsis: One of UNESCO's most important publishing projects over the last thirty years, the General History of Africa collection is a major milestone in the process of recognizing Africa's cultural heritage, as it enables us to understand the historical development of African peoples and their relation to others civilizations from a panoramic, diachronic and objective view, obtained from within the continent. The collection was produced by more than 350 experts from a wide variety of fields under the direction of an International Scientific Committee made up of 39 intellectuals, of which two-thirds were African.
